Älvsjöstaden is a large urban development area in Älvsjö, where disused factory and industrial land is being transformed into a city neighborhood in close proximity to green spaces and commuter trains.
NCC and Familjebostäder have collaborated in Älvsjöstaden since 2019. The parties have previously commenced three joint projects in the area – Kabelverket 17, Jordkabeln and Kabelverket 19 – corresponding to nearly 500 rental apartments. The parties’ fourth project is now being initiated, Kraftcentralen 1.
“Familjebostäder is now beginning the construction of our final residential block in Älvsjöstaden. We are approaching the final goal – a new, vibrant and sustainable city district within walking distance of the commuter train station. It has been a true pleasure to be involved in the development of a new part of Älvsjö with more than 2,000 residential units. It will also be an extremely attractive urban environment with green areas, restaurants, service and exercise possibilities,” says Håkan Siggelin, Head of the Project Development Division at Familjebostäder.
NCC has been commissioned to construct 96 new rental apartments across three buildings. The apartments will range from studios to three-bedroom apartments with balconies or terraces.
The project work is proceeding in accordance with Älvsjöstaden’s environmental and energy plan, and the residential units are being built to Sweden Green Building Council Silver level, which places strict demands on such features as low energy consumption, good ventilation and sound material choices.
“Close and effective cooperation from the beginning enabled us to continuously optimize the residential product, but also succeed in transferring important know-how and experience to future stages. We will take all of this with us as we continue developing Älvsjöstaden together,” says Annika Grönberg, Department Manager, NCC Building Sweden.
Construction is scheduled to start in March 2022 and the first occupancy is expected in 2023. The assignment is valued at approximately SEK 200 million and will be registered among orders in the first quarter of 2022 in the NCC Building Sweden business area.
