NCC to build new Burlövsbadet
NCC and the Municipality of Burlöv will build the new Burlövsbadet swimming center in Arlöv, just north of Malmö. The assignment is a construction partnering project and the order value is SEK 290 million.
“Together with NCC, we have found a solution that both meets the municipality’s future requirements and is sustainable. The new swimming center will play a very important role in making Burlöv attractive and in the development of Kronetorpstaden, which is now growing between Arlöv and Åkarp. The railways extension between Lund and Arlöv, featuring four tracks at the new Burlöv station, will provide excellent commuting options to and from the area and the new Burlövsbadet,” says Lars-Åke Ståhl, mayor of the Municipality of Burlöv.
The municipality’s organizations, and the active swimming club that currently leases premises from the municipality, have been involved in designing the new swimming center, which will have a 50-meter pool, a teaching pool, a multifunction pool with movable floors and a children’s pool. The swimming club will have its own premises on the second floor located together with facilities for the center’s personnel. The premises are also being prepared for a gym on the second floor and a reception and café will be located on the ground floor. The new swimming center will have a capacity of 200,000 visitors per year.
The new Burlövsbadet will be built close to the new commuter train station, on land next to the municipality’s current swimming center, which will remain in operation throughout the entire construction period and be demolished when the new center is opened.
“NCC has extensive experience in building swimming centers, including the Ystad badhus, Sjöbo simanläggning and Hylliebadet in Skåne, and we share our experience between projects in our swimming center team. That will enable us to develop and build the new Burlövsbadet and make it sustainable for both visitors and the municipality for a long time to come,” says Henrik Landelius, Business Area Manager of NCC Building Sweden.
Construction of the new Burlövsbadet is planned to commence in the end of 2019 and the center is scheduled for completion in the beginning of 2022.
The transaction amount is SEK 290 million and will be registered in the third quarter 2019 in the NCC Building Sweden business area.
