NCC has been commissioned by Karlskoga Municipality to construct a new swim center adjacent to the Nobelhallen sports facility in Karlskoga. The project is a turnkey contract in partnering form with an order value of approximately SEK 440 million.

The planning of the swim center has been in progress since spring 2023 in close collaboration with Karlskoga Municipality, local partners and NCC’s internal team of experts in swim center construction.
“This is a major investment for Karlskoga. A new, state-of-the-art and sustainable swim center will create better opportunities for sports, recreation and community, benefitting both residents and associations for many years to come,” says Tony Ring, Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board.
NCC worked together with Karlskoga Municipality to develop a sustainability program to proactively address future climate risks, circularity, operational optimization and life cycle cost analyses. A child impact assessment will consider how the swim center is experienced from a child’s perspective and how best to adapt the swim center to cultural differences, attract new target groups and create safe environments.
The new swim center will be approximately 10,000 square meters and will house a 25-meter pool with ten lanes, a multifunction pool with a height-adjustable floor, a diving pool with 1, 3 and 5-meter springboards, a children’s pool, a relaxation area with a sauna and a gym.
“We are pleased to develop and build the new swim center in Karlskoga. By combining knowledge from our central team of swim center experts with the local project team, we can work together with Karlskoga Municipality to realize the objectives of this project,” says Niklas Sparw, Head of NCC Building Sweden.
The order value is approximately SEK 440 million and will be registered in the NCC Building Sweden business area in the first quarter of 2025. The project will start immediately and is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2028.
