NCC receives new assignment at Ryhov County Hospital
NCC has received an additional assignment from Regionfastigheter as part of the framework agreement, signed in 2023, for future-proofing Ryhov County Hospital. This sub-project includes the refurbishment and extension of Akutspåret at Ryhov County Hospital in Jönköping. The project is a turnkey contract in partnering form and is valued at approximately SEK 150 million.

This project is the second of three independent sub-projects under the name of Akutspåret. Each project is subordered separately, and in this sub-project NCC will refurbish and extend the cardiac care unit as well as create ward beds for medicine and outpatient care with the associated rehabilitation activities. NCC will also construct an operating theater as well as a new low-voltage distribution plant. The project will be completed in stages while activities continue at the hospital.
“Effective cooperation in the first sub-project between Region Jönköping and NCC through the partnering agreement for Akutspåret has led to an additional suborder in the project. This cooperation forms the basis for the new project, and we are looking forward to obtaining new and modern premises for our activities that we will be able to move into and ensure health care for the future in Jönköping,” says Thomas Svärd, Construction Project Manager for Regionfastigheter in Jönköping.
Hospital construction puts high demands on state-of-the-art and technical solutions that must function effectively over time. NCC has lengthy experience in new construction as well as refurbishment and expansion of existing hospital buildings. In total, there are approximately 2,600 square meters of refurbishment and 600 square meters of new construction in this new sub-phase.
“Building and refurbishing at the same time as critical health care activities are being carried out requires a great deal from us where logistics, communication and temporary solutions are concerned. So it is extremely important that this takes place in close collaboration and with the involvement of health care personnel, patients and citizens – which NCC has extensive experience in,” says Andreas Saltin, Business Manager at NCC Building Sweden Southeast.
The order value is approximately SEK 150 million and will be registered in the NCC Building Sweden business area in the first quarter of 2025. The project will commence immediately and completion is scheduled for the end of 2027. Ryhov County Hospital was built between 1980 and 1988 by a consortium comprising ABV, SIAB and Skanska. ABV and SIAB are now part of NCC.
