NCC to construct new healthcare building at Nyköping Hospital
NCC has been commissioned by Region Sörmland to construct a new healthcare building at Nyköping Hospital. The order value is approximately SEK 260 million.
The hospital’s new entrance will be located in the building, which will also house clinics and nursing wards.
“The new entrance blends well into the surroundings and will be a major improvement for the hospital. We have worked with NCC for several years on other projects and it has gone very well. Our transparent cooperation with close contact inspires confidence,” says Michael Lindberg, Project Manager at Nyköping Hospital, Region Sörmland.
The new healthcare building encompasses around 12,000 square meters across eight floors and is located adjacent to the old entrance of Nyköping Hospital. The hospital’s new main entrance will be located on two floors and feature a café and pharmacy. The healthcare building, with the designation N55, will also include an MRI unit with MRI scanners, nursing wards and a medical laboratory.
“The assignment is complex, structurally speaking, because N55 will be connected to the older existing hospital buildings. The new building will be a very important hub for the hospital, for visitors as well as employees and operations, and it is with the utmost consideration for ongoing operations that we continue to create premises that meet future healthcare needs in Sörmland,” says Henrik Landelius, Business Area Manager of NCC Building Sweden.
The preparatory groundwork has begun and the healthcare building is expected to be completed by year-end 2021.
The order value of SEK 260 million will be registered in the fourth quarter in NCC Building Sweden.
The project is part of the strategic partnering arrangement between NCC and Region Sörmland to expand as well as remodel and extend three hospitals in Sörmland: Kullbergska Hospital, Mälar Hospital and Nyköping Hospital. The partnership was initiated and announced in June 2015 and order registration will be carried out on an ongoing basis when construction commences.
