NCC signs asphalt contracts in Norway for SEK 250 million

NCC has signed five asphalt contracts with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. The term of the contracts is one year, and the total order value is approximately SEK 250 million.

The combined production volume of the contracts is 122 000 tons of asphalt, ensuring a stable production volume at the asphalt plants. The contracts also include milling and other preparatory measures in conjunction with asphalt laying.

“In recent years, we have invested in upgrades and the acquisition of new equipment at several of our asphalt plants across the Group and these activities will continue moving forward. We are a key operator in the Nordic market and our aim is to offer the best asphalt solutions in the years ahead,” says Grete Aspelund, Head of NCC Industry.

CO2 reduction
NCC has focused for many years on quality and innovation in the asphalt industry while in parallel working systematically and purposefully to identify production solutions that will reduce CO2 emissions. Initiatives have included the use of wood pellets as an energy source in asphalt plants, biogenic binding agents and significant use of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP).

All contracts signed to date this year include environmental weighting criteria of 30 percent, which is a legal requirement in Norway, and the contracts stipulate the provision of environmental product declarations (EPDs).

The contracts refer to the following areas:

  • SVV Hordaland
  • SVV Telemark
  • SVV Agder
  • SVV Stor-Oslo
  • SVV Sør-Rogaland

All contracts will commence in the spring and conclude in the autumn.

The total order value of about SEK 250 million will be registered in the NCC Industry business area in the first quarter of 2025.
