NCC to build school in Akaa, Finland
NCC has been commissioned by the City of Acka to build Toijala Primary School in Ackas, south of Tampere, Finland. The order value amounts to approximately SEK 150 million.
The parties have planned and designed the school for about one year. Now the local plan for the area has been approved as well as the building permit.
"It is gratifying that we can start the construction now when we have an approved local plan and a building permit in place. The new school will make the area more attractive and become an important part of our new school network," says Antti Peltola, mayor in Ackas.
The new primary school will accommodate about 300 students from pre-school class to grade 6. The three-story school building will have a total area of approximately 4,000 square meters.
"We’ve had a very good collaboration with the city of Ackas from an early start and have planned the project thoroughly. We are now ready to start the construction," says Petri Moksén, Unit Manager, NCC Building Nordics.
There is a focus on low energy consumption in the project and will apply for the Finnish four-star environmental classification YL. Construction will begin in March 2025 and the school is expected to be completed in the autumn of 2026.
The assignment is a turnkey contract and the order value amounts to approximately SEK 150 million and will be registered in the NCC Building Nordics business area in the first quarter of 2025.
