NCC to carry out major hospital project in Oulu, Finland
NCC has been selected as the construction partner for a hospital project in Oulu, Finland. The project includes two new buildings – a women’s and children’s hospital, and the first phase of a new main hospital. The customer is the Joint Municipal Authority of the Health Care District of Northern Ostrobothnia. The total order value is approximately SEK 705 million.
The two new buildings will be located on the existing hospital campus of Oulu University Hospital. The design, construction and purchasing will be carried out as a partnering agreement.
“We are proud and excited to continue our cooperation and move to the construction phase in Oulu. An open construction model will be used for the buildings, enabling the flexibility to make changes to the plans throughout the process, if needed. At NCC, our experience of this model is positive and we are convinced that this will ensure the best end result,” says Mika Soini, Head of NCC Building Finland.
The project also encompasses the required demolition works that have already begun. Construction works will commence in autumn 2018 and it is estimated that the hospital buildings will be finished by the end of 2021. The order value is SEK 705 million. The order will be registered in the fourth quarter of 2017 in the NCC Building business area.
