The project consists of seven phases entailing the renovation of 258 apartments, with an option for a further 140 apartments. In the spring, NCC completed the first phase, the system documentation planning process, and renovation of three properties comprising a total of 56 apartments is now starting. The remaining phases will be called off successively.

“It feels very fulfilling to be developing areas of the Råby neighborhood in partnership with NCC by modernizing the apartments to meet today’s standards. Sustainability with a focus on reuse characterizes the entire project, which makes it particularly exciting,” says Ann Hermansson Alm, CEO of Upplands-Brohus.

The project has set high targets for reuse. For example, all balcony doors will be reused in the apartments. White goods and cabinetry will also be reused, but in other residential units within the customer’s portfolio. NCC has extensive renovation experience and possesses the expertise to renovate existing housing stock with an efficient, long-term approach that entails a lower environmental impact. Recently, NCC also compiled a report with reform proposals for the sustainable renovation of Sweden’s housing stock.

“The project aims to build energy-efficient homes and reduce costs across the entire life cycle. NCC will be able to utilize its expertise in areas such as energy efficiency, reuse, operational optimization and environmental certification. Together with Upplands-Brohus, our assignment entails developing smart solutions with a focus on reuse and a lower climate impact,” says Henrik Landelius, Head of NCC Building Sweden.

Upplands-Brohus estimates the seven phases of the project to amount to SEK 340 million and completion is scheduled for 2026. The order value for the phase that is currently starting amounts to SEK 75 million and was registered among orders in the first quarter in the NCC Building Sweden business area. Any future phases will be registered among orders on an ongoing basis for the same business area.
