Collaboration is crucial for climate action

Progress in climate action is best achieved through close collaboration between contractor and client. It is through joint efforts and a shared vision that we can create sustainable solutions that benefit both the environment and society. The Framnäs Strandpark project in Lidköping is a great example of this.

Framnäs Strandpark in Lidköping: A practical example

A concrete example of successful collaboration to drive sustainability in our projects is Framnäs Strandpark in Lidköping. Together with the client, Lidköping Municipality, we have implemented several measures to reduce climate impact and promote sustainability:

  • Reduced climate impact: Through conscious choices, we reduced the climate impact by 26%, equivalent to 1,167 tons of carbon dioxide. This corresponds to the emissions from 15 round trips between Stockholm and New York.
  • Innovative construction methods: We used preloading instead of piling to manage future ground settlement, which reduced material use and climate impact.
  • Reuse of materials: Natural stone from a cable project between Götene and Lugnås was reused, reducing the need for new resources and preventing materials from ending up in landfill.
  • Optimized transport logistics: By combining transports of contaminated soil and crushed material, we optimized logistics and reduced emissions.
  • Preservation of biodiversity: We avoided using impermeable rubber liners in the compensation area, eliminating the need to pump water into the pond, which benefited biodiversity.
  • Use of renewable energy: The construction project was powered by renewable electricity, minimizing energy-related climate emissions.
  • Optimized concrete solutions: By optimizing concrete structures, we reduced climate impact and improved sustainability.

The importance of engaged clients

A key factor in achieving sustainable results is working with clients who not only want but also dare to invest in sustainability. Their courage to invest in the environment and long-term sustainability goals enables us to implement innovative and effective measures. Thanks to this, we can create buildings and infrastructure that not only meet today’s needs but also preserve and improve our environment for future generations.
